The Central University of Punjab (CU Punjab) has reaffirmed its commitment to scientific research, innovation, and societal impact by securing the 53rd rank in the University category in India in the SCImago Institutions Rankings 2025 (SIR-2025). Notably, the university has maintained its position among the top 55 universities in India for the second consecutive year in this ranking framework.
The SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) is a global classification of academic and research institutions, evaluated based on a composite indicator that integrates three key metrics: research performance, innovation outputs, and societal impact (measured through web visibility).
In SIR-2025, SCImago assessed over 9,750 academic and research institutions worldwide. In the University category, CU Punjab has secured 53rd in India, 741st in the Asiatic Region, and 2093rd globally.
Additionally, CU Punjab has earned an impressive percentile score across research, innovation, and societal impact parameters in India. As a result, the university has achieved an overall rank of 89 among all academic and research-based institutions in India.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari congratulated the faculty, staff, research scholars, and students on this remarkable achievement. Prof. Tiwari credited this success to the dedication of the university community and emphasized that this recognition will further inspire CU Punjab to set new benchmarks in academic and research excellence.
