Congressmen’s fake promises of justice in sacrilege incidents repeated insult of Sangat: Harpal Cheema

Chandigarh, 4 February 2022 (Yes Punjab News)
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Senior leader and Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema alleged that Congress leader and Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab Sukhjinder Singh Sukhi Randhawa is repeatedly insulting the Guru Granth Sahib by making fake promises of giving justice in the cases of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib if the Congress government comes to power again.

Cheema said that Sangat has decided to form Aam Aadmi Party’s government in Punjab to resolve all the problems of Punjab, including justice in sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib. AAP government will live up to all their expectations.

In a statement released from party headquarters here on Friday, Cheema said,” Even being power in Punjab for five years, the Congress couldn’t give justice to the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, including all the religious scriptures. Congress and Captain Amarinder Singh have been playing with the sentiments of Sangat for the last 7 years.

Cheema accused that at the time of elections, Congress leader and Deputy Chief Minister SukhJinder Singh Randhawa is making fake promises among public that if the Congress government is formed again in the state, all the accused of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib will be behind the bars. When it is cleared that Congress has failed and, special committees, CBI inquiry, Justice Jora Singh and Justice Ranjit Singh Commission of Inquiry were constituted and the investigation reports were submitted, but no culprit or conspirator has been punished yet.

Cheema said that the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and other holy scriptures took place under a bigger conspiracy. He said that in the year 2015 and 2017 there were around 170 incidents of sacrilege of Bhagavad Gita, Holy Quran, Sri Guru Granth Sahib and blasphemous posters were circulated to agitate the devotees. Unfortunately, these incidents were not stopped during the regime of Congress and lack of justice made the culprits fearless.

Harpal Singh Cheema said that even after seven years of the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, inquiry committees, CBI and investigation panels failed to bring justice, because politicians and parties in power are saving each other.

Cheema claimed that the investigation report related to the sacrilege and firing case included the names of several leaders including former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, former Deputy Chief Minister and then Home Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini. Despite this, these reports were not made public and no concrete action was taken to ensure justice.

Cheema alleged that Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Congress state president Navjot Singh Sidhu had enough time to take an action, but they too have chosen the side of culprits and failed the people of Punjab.

Harpal Singh Cheema also alleged that the shoddy politics of all traditional parties like Shiromani Akali Dal, Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party have used religion and sentiments of common people for their political gains. He promised that when Aam Aadmi Party government is formed it will take strict action in these matters and give exemplary punishments to masterminds of these incidents.
