Tarn Taran, Nov 9, 2025(Yes Punjab News)
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate from Tarn Taran Assembly constituency, Harmeet Singh Sandhu, today warmly welcomed Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s initiative of flagging off the first batch of buses under the ‘Chief Minister Tirath Yatra’ scheme. Harmeet Singh Sandhu said that this initiative by the Punjab government will prove to be a blessing for the elderly who have long desired to visit sacred religious sites.
In a statement issued here, Harmeet Singh Sandhu said that this pilgrimage, dedicated to the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, will further strengthen the spirit of brotherhood among Punjabis. He informed that under this scheme, devotees above the age of 50 will be provided air-conditioned buses, accommodation in good hotels, and meals completely free of cost. Sandhu said that the Aam Aadmi Party government is committed to the welfare of every section of society, and this scheme is a reflection of that commitment.
Launching a sharp attack on the opposition parties, Harmeet Singh Sandhu said that Congress leaders have become desperate after realizing their certain defeat in the Tarn Taran by-election. He said that the Punjab Congress President has lost his mental balance, which is why he has been making irresponsible and absurd statements continuously. Sandhu said that people will no longer be misled by such leaders.
Taking on the BJP-led central government, Sandhu said that the recovery of VVPAT slips from garbage dumps during the elections raises serious questions about the functioning of the Election Commission. He alleged that the BJP is working with an anti-Punjab mindset and is trying to take control of Panjab University, Chandigarh, through the back door, a move that the AAP government will never allow to succeed.
Harmeet Sandhu further said that the Congress leaders who joined the BJP out of greed for power have been reduced to mere “decorative ministers”, as the BJP government is promoting privatization, leaving these ministers with no authority for public welfare. He said that the central government has done grave injustice to Punjab by not releasing the ₹1600 crore flood relief funds it had announced, whereas the Bhagwant Mann government, on its own, has provided the highest compensation of ₹20,000 per acre to the affected farmers.
