Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday campaigned for the party’s (AAP) candidate Mohinder Bhagat for the Jalandhar West Assembly by-election. Mann addressed several public meetings here and appealed to the people to make AAP candidate Mohinder Bhagat win.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, along with party’s national leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and AAP candidate Mohinder Bhagat, held public meetings in ward number – 35, 41, 44 and ward number – 76 falling under Jalandhar West Assembly and addressed the people.
The Chief Minister promised the people and said that you make the candidate win, whatever application Mohinder Bhagat will bring to me, I will sign and pass all of them. Mann hinted at making Mohinder Bhagat a minister and said that if you take him up the stairs of the Assembly, I will take him up the steps beyond that.
Mann said that I have opened my office in Jalandhar for the work of the people of Doaba and Majha region. Now people will not have to go to Chandigarh to get their work done.
The government itself is at your doorstep.  Mann said that he would retain the residence even after the elections and would be available to the people there at least two days a week.
Mann attacked the Congress party and its candidate Surinder Kaur. He said that if she could not get the work of her ward done while being the deputy mayor of Jalandhar, then how will she get the work of such a big assembly constituency done?
Mann said that the work of streets, drains and sewerage systems etc. comes under the Municipal Corporation. Currently, there is a Congress mayor in Jalandhar Municipal Corporation, but he did nothing for this. He did not even change the sewerage lid.
Mann also attacked Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Badal. He said that the condition of Akali Dal Badal has become so bad that Sukhbir Badal is withdrawing support from his candidate and asking people to vote for the Bahujan Samaj Party.
Mann said that I have not come into politics to earn money. If I had wanted to earn money, I would have earned a lot till date as an artist. I have come into politics to serve the people of Punjab and to end corruption.
He said that all three parties, Akali Dal, BJP and Congress have come together to defeat me because all three have looted Punjab together.  He said that all three parties have a problem with how young MLAs from ordinary families became ministers and chief ministers.
Mann also attacked BJP candidate Sheetal Angural and said that he has betrayed the people here. He said that he had problems doing illegal work while being in the Aam Aadmi Party, so he went to the BJP.
Nowadays BJP is the first choice of corrupt leaders. Mann appealed to the people to teach him such a lesson in this election that no MLA can dare to resign like this again.
Taking a dig at the BJP, Mann said that journalists asked me how we stopped Modi in Delhi and Punjab. It’s simple, the lotus blooms in the mud, we clean that mud with a broom, that is why there is no lotus in Delhi and Punjab.
The Chief Minister told the youth who had come to the public meeting that politics is not bad. The problem is the large number of bad people in it.
That too is because good people stay away from it. He said that everything in your life is decided by politics, even what you will eat and what you will wear.
So do not run away from politics, but actively participate in it. Mann assured the women that soon he will also fulfill the guarantee of 1000 rupees per month to women

Addressing the public meeting, AAP MP Sanjay Singh said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has done historic work for every section of Punjab.
Such a Chief Minister has been made for the first time in Punjab.  He said that in the Mann government, the common people of Punjab are getting zero electricity bills. Today, about 90 percent of the houses in Punjab are getting zero electricity bills.
After the formation of the AAP government, Mohalla clinics are being built in various places in Punjab. So far, about 850 Mohalla clinics have been built, in which more than two crore people have got their treatment done.
The youth are getting employment. In the last two years, about 43 thousand youth got government jobs without any bribe and recommendation.
For the convenience of traders, the Mann government issued green stamp paper, which ended their problems of bribery, bureaucracy and going to the offices.
Apart from this, in the last two years, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann closed 16 toll plazas, due to which Punjabis are saving more than Rs 70 lakh every day.
He said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has ended corruption in Punjab. He issued a helpline number for complaints against corrupt officials and employees and took action against about 500 corrupt people on the basis of complaints received on it.
The Mann government has also taken action against drugs on a large scale. So far, cases have been registered against about 26 thousand people under NDPS and drugs worth hundreds of crores have been seized.
Sanjay Singh attacked BJP, Congress and Akali Dal and said that during the Akali government, Akali leaders used to do hooliganism and gave government protection to criminals and mafias.
On the other hand, the Congress government did nothing for the development of Punjab in five years, did only corruption and BJP does politics of caste, religion and hatred.
He said that the BJP is a party of thieves. We have heard of bicycle thieves, bike thieves but the BJP is a different kind of thief. It steals MLAs and election symbols of political parties. Here also BJP stole our MLA, due to which this by-election is being held.
