In view of the rise of the positivity rate in COVID-19 cases since last week, the Confederation of Indian Industry donated 25 Type-D Oxygen cylinders and 25 oxygen concentrators to the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Punjab. As a response to the need of oxygen in public health facilities and the Punjab Health and Family Welfare Department’s directive to ensure supply of essential medicines at the doorsteps of the home-isolated patients, CII donated 25 oxygen cylinders along with 20 concentrators that can hold 10 litres capacity and 5 concentrators that can hold 5 litres capacity.
Witnessing a 15-week high caseload, the donation was made to strengthen the healthcare facilities in Punjab. Receiving the donation on behalf of Government of Punjab, Dr Sharanjit Kaur Sidhu, Director Procurement, Punjab Health System Corporation (PHSC) said, “We value CII’s help to save human lives in the pandemic. It will be ensured that the benefits of CII’s humanistic efforts reach out to all needy citizens of the State through public health facilities.”
Appreciating the gesture by CII, Mrs Neelima, IAS, Managing Director, Department of Health & Family Welfare, Punjab Health System Corporation & CEO, State Health Agency, Government of Punjab said, “We appreciate CII’s efforts to fortify the Punjab Government’s healthcare facilities and welcome the timely gesture to ensure preparedness in advance. This initiative has indeed provided substance to the mobilisation plans of the Government in saving lives.”
Appealing to the citizens, Mr Rajiv Kaila, Chairman, CII Chandigarh & Director, Kaila Engineering Private Limited said, “We request the citizens to help us in the fight against the virus by following the rules, guidelines, and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) issued by the government. By preventing the spread of COVID-19, we will be able to contain the impact and resume normalcy.”
