Chitkara University Organises 2nd Edition of International Animation & Film Festival – CHIAFF’26

The Chitkara International Animation & Film Festival (CHIAFF’26), now in its second edition, concluded at Chitkara University after two days of intensive engagement with animation, storytelling, and digital creativity, drawing participation from students, industry professionals, and leading creators.

Hosted by the Chitkara Design School’s Department of Animation, the festival featured a curated lineup of film screenings, panel discussions, masterclasses, and student showcases, positioning itself as a significant platform for emerging talent and industry interaction in the field of animation and visual storytelling.

Among the key highlights was the participation of artist and content creator Harun Robert, widely known for popularising DIY creativity, who engaged with students through interactive sessions. Digital storyteller Prateek Sethi also addressed participants, sharing insights from his work on FAQ and discussing evolving trends in content creation and audience engagement.

The festival also conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award on noted animation filmmaker Nina Sabnani, recognising her longstanding contribution to animation and narrative practices in India.

Several other industry experts and creators participated in the event, offering perspectives on creative processes, technological advancements, and the future of animation as a discipline.

Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Pro Chancellor, Chitkara University, citing the importance of such initiatives, stating, “CHIAFF serves as a vital platform for nurturing creativity and encouraging young minds to explore the power of storytelling. By connecting students with industry leaders, we aim to inspire innovation and prepare them for the evolving global landscape of animation and design.”

With a strong focus on knowledge exchange and creative exploration, CHIAFF’26 facilitated meaningful dialogue between academia and industry. The festival provided students with exposure to diverse storytelling formats and reinforced the university’s commitment to fostering innovation-driven education in the creative arts.

CHIAFF continues to grow as a key academic and cultural initiative, reflecting the increasing relevance of animation and digital storytelling in contemporary media and communication.
