Amritsar, May 12, 2021 (Yes Punjab News)
The third Covid Care Centre with facility of 25-beds set up by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) at the Royal Palace in Bholath town of Kapurthala district to provide health services to Covid-19 patients was formally inaugurated on Wednesday.

The care centre was inaugurated by SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur, who was accompanied by SGPC senior vice-president S. Surjit Singh Bhitewad, Akali leader S. Yuvraj Bhupinder Singh and other prominent personalities were also present.

This Covid Care Center has been attached to Sri Guru Ramdas Medical College and Hospital, Amritsar, and the institution’s eight doctors and 14 nursing staff would remain deputed here for 24 hours in different shifts.

The centre will provide free basic treatment to Covid-19 patients and arrangements have been made to take patients to hospitals in case of emergency.

SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur said that special efforts are being made by SGPC to serve humanity during the Covid-19 pandemic. She said at Amritsar, 100-beds have been reserved for treatment of Covid-19 patients at Sri Guru Ramdas Charitable Hospital.

She said that special care centres are being set up at various places in Punjab in which oxygen is provided through concentrators.

“This is the third such care centre started at Bholath. Already such wards are operational at Gurdwara Manji Sahib, Alamgir, Ludhiana and Sri Damdama Sahib. Another ward is being set up at Gurdwara Sri Moti Bagh, Patiala”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.

Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “The time is for making serious efforts to come out from the situation caused by the contagious disease and the SGPC is with the people in every possible way. SGPC is making diligent efforts to procure Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine from the United States and a letter was written for its approval and permission of use in India, to the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi and Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan.”

She said that the SGPC was facing various difficulties in the treatment of Covid-19 patients but still the Sikh body is leading the way in providing services in this crisis.

Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “An oxygen plant has been set up by the SGPC at Sri Guru Ramdas Medical College, Amritsar, but there is a problem in getting liquid oxygen. An appeal has been made to the Government of India for this, but it has not been resolved yet.

The necessary clearance has been obtained from the Center for this plant and an agreement has also been signed with INOX Air Products Company for oxygen. However, restrictions on access to liquid oxygen by the Government of India remain an obstacle. I appeal to the Centre Government to find an immediate solution so that the SGPC would not face any difficulty in rendering services during the dire period of Covid-19.”

On this occasion among others SGPC senior vice-president S. Surjit Singh Bhitewad, Akali leader S. Yuvraj Bhupinder Singh, Dean of Sri Guru Ramdas Medical College, Amritsar Dr Shaukin Singh and Dr AP Singh, OSD to SGPC president Dr Sukhbir Singh, S. Ranjit Singh Rimpy, S. Manpreet Singh Rinki, S.
