Central University of Punjab (CU Punjab) has reached a new benchmark in research excellence by attaining a SCOPUS h-Index of 100, a remarkable achievement for a young university established just 15 years ago. This milestone reflects the institution’s consistent focus on both qualitative and quantitative scientific research.
The h-Index measures the impact of an institution’s research output by assessing the number of publications with corresponding citation counts. CU Punjab’s emphasis on multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary research has resulted in numerous publications in high-impact journals.
The university currently boasts over 3,500 research publications and more than 74,000 citations indexed in SCOPUS. Collaborations with leading global and national institutions and industries have further elevated the university’s research visibility and reputation.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari congratulated the faculty and research scholars, emphasizing the university’s commitment to impactful research for societal betterment. He extended heartfelt gratitude to Hon’ble Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan Ji for his visionary guidance, which has played a pivotal role in CU Punjab achieving this milestone.
He attributed the success to the relentless efforts and quality research conducted by the university’s faculty and scholars, reaffirming the institution’s dedication to expanding research opportunities, even at the undergraduate level.
Prof. R.K. Wusirika, Dean Incharge Academics, highlighted the significance of this milestone, explaining that an h-Index of 100 means that 100 publications have been cited at least 100 times each, indicating substantial scholarly influence and consistent research quality.
Prof. Anjana Munshi, Director of Research & Development, commended the dynamic leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, stating that his vision has inspired faculty and researchers to remain committed to quality research, contributing to this significant accomplishment.
Prof. Monisha Dhiman, Director IQAC, emphasized that this achievement is a testament to the university’s research-centric environment, which aims to foster innovation and entrepreneurship through a quality teaching-learning process.
