Capt Amarinder should take initiative to revisit Reservation Policy: Kainth

Patiala, 20 April, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

National Scheduled Casted Alliance and its President Paramjit Singh Kainth today criticized the State Government for being inefficient in providing responsibe governance relating to the issues of the Scheduled Castes community in Punjab.

Kainth said,” Various schemes for the benefit of the community have either been implemented in a faulty manner or there was various frauds and corruption plaguing the working of the schemes. There is clear lack of responsible governance from this current government. Scheduled Castes community has suffered immensely due to this attitude of the government.”

He further said,” What kind of freedom are we celebrating in the 72nd year of independence when a persom of the Scheduled Casted community is subjected to everyday discrimination and atrocities. Further more the ordeals that the victims has to go through are nothing short of an embarassment for the government.”

Pointing a flaw in the reservation policy of the government, Kainth said,” The reservation policy has not been reviewed since 1976. The basis for reservation should be in proportion of the population. There should be a significant increase in this regard and Capt. Amrinder Singh should engage in revisiting and amending this policy for the benefit of the Scheduled Castes community.”
