Punjab Horticulture and Defence Services Welfare Minister Mohinder Bhagat on Sunday laid the foundation stone for the renovation and beautification of Bhagwan Valmiki Ji Bhawan on 120 Feet Road in Jalandhar at an estimated cost of Rs 96 lakh.
The project includes renovation and repair of the existing building, besides construction of a new community hall. Flooring, painting and other beautification works will also be undertaken as part of the project.
Bhagat said the work would be completed within a short period, adding that the project would provide improved facilities to visitors and the local community.
Reiterating the Punjab Government’s commitment to the development and welfare of all sections of society, the Minister said development projects were being undertaken across the state in a planned manner under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.
He said the government was working continuously towards making Punjab a developed and prosperous state by improving public infrastructure and civic facilities.
On the occasion, Bhagat urged people to follow the path of universal brotherhood and social harmony shown by Bhagwan Valmiki Ji. He also called for strengthening mutual love, peace and harmony among people belonging to different communities.
