Budget 2025-26 Incorporates Key Recommendations of Punjab Vision 2047 Report: Vikram Sahney

The Budget presented by Finance Minister in Punjab Assembly have incorporated key recommendations of the Punjab Vision 2047: A blueprint of Punjab’s Progress submitted to Punjab government by Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sahney, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha from Punjab.

Dr. Sahney highlighted the government’s focus on crop diversification, water conservation, and curbing stubble burning. Key allocations include ₹115 crore to incentivize farmers to shift from paddy to Kharif maize, promoting ethanol production and easing groundwater stress.

₹500 crore is earmarked for crop residue management through machinery subsidies and awareness programs. Additionally, ₹100 crore will fund underground pipeline networks in Sangrur to enhance canal irrigation and address water scarcity in the Malwa region.

Dr. Sahney stated that the allocation for Industrial and Economic Revival aligns with recommendations for industrial modernization and skill development.

The budget includes a record ₹250 crore for industrial incentives—the highest in Punjab’s history—to boost sectors like textiles, bicycles, and agro-processing. ₹120 crore under the RAMP Scheme will support MSMEs by fostering innovation and market access, while ₹230 crore is allocated for skill training—a 50% increase from last year—as recommended in the Punjab Vision 2047 report.

Dr. Sahney stated that the budget embraces his proposals for transparent governance and robust infrastructure.

Key allocations include ₹585 crore for the Rangla Punjab Vikas Scheme, empowering districts to address local needs, reflecting his push for decentralized planning. Additionally, ₹140 crore is earmarked for world-class urban roads in Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar, and Mohali, aligning with his vision for smart cities.

Dr. Sahney stated that the budget exhibits remarkable progressiveness in its Health and Education indicators, boasting historic allocations of ₹17,975 crore for Education, ₹5,598 crore for Health, and ₹150 crore for the Drug Census in Punjab, it mirrors with our recommendations for human capital development.

Dr. Sahney also said that the inclusion of Punjab Vision 2047’s actionable strategies in the budget marks a transformative moment for our state. This collaborative approach will ensure Punjab’s journey toward prosperity, sustainability, and global competitiveness by 2047.
