Working State President of Bharatiya Janata Party, Punjab, Ashwani Sharma, strongly condemned the shocking incident at Tapa Mandi (Barnala) where several cows were brutally killed and their bodies thrown on the roadside.
Sharma said the incident reflects not only inhuman cruelty but also a total collapse of law and order under the Aam Aadmi Party government.
He said the recurring pattern of cow killings across Punjab shows that the AAP government has “lost control over criminal networks” involved in illegal slaughtering.
Public outrage is justified, he added, because the administration has repeatedly failed to take action despite earlier warnings from local bodies and villagers.
Sharma highlighted that such incidents are not new, recalling that ever since AAP came to power in March 2022, Punjab has witnessed multiple shocking cases of cow killing and illegal slaughter. In Patiala and Fatehgarh Sahib in March 2022, carcasses were found dumped in fields with no arrests made. In Jalandhar in August 2022, skinned cow bodies were recovered, indicating a suspected illegal slaughter racket. Bathinda reported eight cows found dead near a canal in January 2023, while Kapurthala saw a brutal killing in July 2023 where the investigation later stalled. In February 2024, Ludhiana recorded a series of mysterious cow deaths linked to illegal transport, and in September 2024, Moga witnessed carcasses being thrown outside a village, triggering widespread protests.
Sharma said these repeated incidents clearly expose the “administrative paralysis” of the current Punjab government. He demanded that the culprits in the Tapa Mandi case be arrested immediately and that strict legal action be ensured.
Sharma demanded an immediate arrest of those responsible and creation of a special task force against illegal cow slaughter, a judicial probe into all cow-killing incidents since 2022, and accountability from district officials who ignored earlier complaints.
Sharma assured that BJP Punjab will continue to fight for justice and ensure that such cruelty does not go unpunished.
