SAD Taksali Anandpur Sahib candidate and former Punjab Deputy Speaker Bir Devinder Singh today said that if elected Member of Parliament from Sri Anandpur Sahib, It would be his priority endeavor to set up Sri Guru Gobind Singh Defence University at Anandpur Sahib to impart strategic training in the various streams of Defence studies.
In a press release issued here, Bir Devinder Singh said, that as the first step of bold initiatives, I would undertake dialogue and all necessary steps to ensure the early establishment of such a university.
He said, Nangal Township could be an ideal location for Guru Gobind Singh Defence University, which would be requiring minimum 100 acres of land. “I am of the view that It would give much-required impetus to the entire Kadhi belt in the foothills of the entire Shivalik range,” he said.
The former deputy speaker said, the establishment of such a world class institute in the vicinity of Sri Anandpur Sahib would boost all developmental activities in the area and would also serve as value addition this historic place.
“This University could utilize the services of ex-soldiers and retired commanders of the defence services. The Guru Gobind Singh defence University could truly manifest the Spirit and Philosophy of Guru Gobind Singh Ji based on the theme of The Saint and the Soldiers,” he said.
He earnestly solicited the support of the Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh for this project. “He being a soldier himself should come forward and offer land for the setting up of Guru Gobind Singh Defence University at Anandpur Sahib . I would urge him to send the proposal to the central Government and ministry of defence forthwith,” he said.
