Bibi Jagir Kaur questions delay in reopening of Kartarpur Sahib corridor

Ramdas / Amritsar, July 7, 2021 (Yes Punjab News)
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Bibi Jagir Kaur raised questions on the Government of India for the continuous delay in reopening the corridor of Gurdwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib in Pakistan.

Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “It seems as if the Government of India had opened the corridor of Gurdwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib in Pakistan, the shrine associated with the first Sikh master, Guru Nanak Dev Ji, only to trick the Sikh Sangat (devotees). If the government had been serious in this regard, it would have taken the initiative to reopen the long-closed corridor. Now that the shrines and other public places have been opened, there should be no excuse for Covid-19 to reopen Sri Kartarpur Sahib corridor.”

Bibi Jagir Kaur on Wednesday visited Ramdas town of Amritsar to inaugurate the langar (community kitchen) hall and diwan (religious congregation) hall at the holy shrine of Gurdwara Baba Buddha Sahib.

While talking to the media, SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “The Government of India should immediately open the Sri Kartarpur Sahib corridor as it is associated with the sentiments of the Sikh community. Letters have been written many times to the Government of India, in this regard and another letter will be written soon.”

Meanwhile, Bibi Jagir Kaur condemned the ignorance of the heritage monuments by the present government and said that the SGPC would make efforts to make the surroundings clean near these monuments by planting saplings.

“The Akali government had tried its best to pass on the heritage to the new generation by establishing monuments but the present government is not making serious efforts for the maintenance of these monuments”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.

To a query, Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “The propaganda of Sudhir Suri against Sikh principles and Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib is an expression of his sick mentality. Such people are deliberately trying to spoil the peaceful atmosphere of Punjab and remain on the lookout to disturb the brotherhood and harmony. The governments should keep such people in control so that the atmosphere in Punjab is not disturbed.”

Meanwhile, Bibi Jagir Kaur inaugurated the langar hall and diwan hall at Gurdwara Tap Asthan Baba Buddha Sahib Ramdas and also unveiled the foundation stone of the administrative block at Gurdwara Samadh Baba Buddha Sahib.

On this occasion former MLA Amarpal Singh Bonny Ajnala thanked the SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur for the work related to Gurdwara Baba Buddha Sahib at Ramdas town.

On this occasion, SGOC senior vice-president Surjit Singh Bhitewad and area member Master Amrik Singh Vichoa also shared their views with the Sangat. Meanwhile, the SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur was also felicitated.
