Punjab Labour, Tourism, Cultural Affairs, Investment Promotion and Grievance Disposal Minister Miss Anmol Gagan Mann hoisted the National flag at Nawanshahr on Independence Day. She inspected the parade along with DC NPS Randhawa and SSP Bhagirth Singh Meena and also took salute from the march past.
During her address, she recalled the unparalleled contribution and sacrifices of Punjabis for the freedom of the country and said that Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, Sardar Kartar Singh Sarabha, Madan Lal Dhingra, Lala Lajpat Rai, Diwan Singh Kalepani, Shaheed Udham Singh were among those heros who laid down their lives to make us citizens of an independent Nation.
Anmol Gagan Mann said that the fragrance of martyrdom still comes from the soil of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh’s ancestral village Khatkar Kalan and inspires us to die for the country in case needs it.
Reiterating the commitment of the Bhagwant Mann government to transform Punjab into the dreams of the martyrs, she said that the key promises made to the people such as one MLA one pension, Aam Aadmi Clinic and free household electricity supply up to 600 units have been fulfilled in the first five months of formation of AAP Government.
She said that it has happened for the first time that the portraits of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh and Dr. B R Ambedkar have replaced that of political leaders.
She said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Singh Maan, Punjab is leading in power, agriculture, education, law and order, civic services, infrastructure, urban development, comprehensive development of villages, vacating illegal possessions from panchayat lands, health, investment sectors. She also termed anti-corruption helpline as the biggest civil right and freedom to residents to eradicate corruption from Punjab.
Listing other achievements of Punjab Government viz. war on drugs, formation of anti-gangster task force, setting up of industrial training institutes for youth, introduction of e-stamps in place of paper stamp papers, encouraging farmers for alternative crops to conserve depleting ground water tables, she said that these are the important steps taken by state in Public interest.
Calling the subsidy of Rs 1500 per acre for giving MSP and encouraging direct sowing of paddy as a sign of seriousness and sincerity of the Punjab government towards the state and the people, she said that the government is committed to the progress and prosperity of Punjab.
The Labor Minister further said that wheat flour would be supplied instead of grain to the beneficiaries of the National Food Security Mission, the honorarium given to the families of the soldiers who died for the country have been increased to one crore, and process of filling of 26 thousand government vacancies under the promise of employment have been started.
The initiation of sports competitions across the state from July 29 to encourage the youth to participate in sports is an expression of the positive thinking of the Bhagwant Mann government towards the people of the state, she added. She termed the amendment in the Sand and Gravel Mining Policy, 2021 as a major relief for the common man to ensure availability of construction materials at reasonable rates.
During the event, she also presented tricycles and sewing machines to the needy on behalf of the District Red Cross Society. Apart from this, 51 personalities including Parade Commander DSP Harshpreet Singh and Nature Photographer Advocate Harpreet Singh Sandhu were honored for their special achievements.
More than 2000 students of 28 schools participated in the parade, PT show and cultural program to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the country’s Independence. Apart from this, Tableaus exhibited by the various departments for public awareness were also part of the march past.
Among the prominent persons present there included MLA Santosh Kumari Kataria, MLA Dr. Nachhatar Pal, District and Sessions Judge Kanwaljit Singh Bajwa, AAP Senior Leader Lalit Mohan Pathak, District President Shiv Karan Chechi.
