Chandigarh, November 7, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
Reacting to statements by BJP leaders on whether the party would contest the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections independently or enter into an alliance, AAP Punjab Media In-charge Baltej Pannu said his party was unconcerned about the BJP’s electoral strategy and would seek votes on the basis of its development work and governance record.
Pannu expressed confidence that the AAP government would return to power and Bhagwant Singh Mann would become Chief Minister for a second consecutive term.
He said Mann was the first Chief Minister in Punjab’s history to remain directly connected with the common people. Pannu claimed that Mann regularly stopped to meet people during public visits, making citizens feel that he was accessible to them.
Pannu said the AAP government had delivered in five years what previous governments had failed to accomplish in 70 years. He cited the supply of canal water to fields covering 88 per cent of Punjab’s agricultural area, 600 units of free electricity for households and cashless health insurance coverage of Rs 10 lakh.
Taking aim at the BJP, Pannu said its leaders were giving contradictory statements about contesting all 117 Assembly seats independently or entering into an alliance. He asserted that neither option would help the party win public support in Punjab.
He said people had not forgotten the deaths of 750 farmers during the farmers’ protest at the borders of Delhi and alleged that the BJP had pursued policies against Punjab’s interests.
Pannu also referred to issues concerning the BBMB, Chandigarh, Panjab University and funds allegedly withheld from Punjab, saying these would remain important concerns for voters.
He said the AAP would approach the electorate with its record of development, public welfare and governance, expressing confidence that voters would give the party another mandate.
