Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said the people of Punjab, along with the blessings of Lord Shiva, were with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and wanted him to return as Chief Minister.
Kejriwal was addressing devotees at the ‘Ek Shaam Bhagwan Shiv Ke Naam’ bhajan sandhya in Ludhiana, where the gathering reverberated with chants of “Har Har Mahadev” and “Bam Bam Bhole”.
He said public confidence in Mann’s leadership had increased and cited the Punjab Government’s welfare and religious initiatives as reasons for its support.
Kejriwal said women beneficiaries were receiving money in their bank accounts under a government scheme and shared the example of a girl from a poor family who, after receiving the money, was able to purchase a hair dryer needed for her beautician course. He said mothers, sisters and daughters were happy with the scheme.
He also pointed to zero electricity bills being received by people in Punjab, saying such initiatives had strengthened public support for the Mann government and the AAP.
On the religious programmes, Kejriwal said ‘Ek Shaam Bhagwan Shiv Ke Naam’ was being organised across all 23 cities of Punjab and had attracted large gatherings for devotional performances featuring singer Kailash Kher.
He said the Mukh Manti Teerath Yatra Yojana had also been expanded. The earlier routes covered Darbar Sahib, Durgiana Temple, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal and Wagah Border on one route, and Sri Anandpur Sahib and Naina Devi on another. Three additional routes have now been introduced: Khatu Shyam Ji-Salasar, Haridwar-Rishikesh and Mathura-Vrindavan Dham.
According to Kejriwal, the pilgrimage journeys include free travel, food and accommodation, with pilgrims travelling in AC luxury buses and staying in AC hotels.
He claimed that no government or political party had done as much for Sanatan Dharma as the Bhagwant Mann government. He also highlighted the redevelopment of Mata Kali Temple in Patiala at a cost of ₹80 crore, saying the project was expected to be completed by October 10.
Kejriwal further spoke about the ‘Hamare Ram’ theatrical production being organised across Punjab. He said the play would soon be staged in Ludhiana and tickets would be free for Punjab residents. He claimed tickets for the production in Delhi had been priced at ₹8,000.
He said the government’s initiatives, ranging from pilgrimage facilities and temple redevelopment to devotional events and religiously themed cultural programmes, were aimed at enabling people to connect with their faith with dignity.
