Amritsar Commissionerate Police Conducts 3-Day Crackdown Under Operation Prahaar, Gangtran Te Vaar

Commissionerate Police Amritsar carried out a focused, intelligence-led enforcement drive under Operation Prahaar, Gangster Te Vaar over three consecutive days, from 20 January to 22 January 2026. The operations were aimed at rounding up suspects, dismantling criminal networks, arresting proclaimed offenders, and disrupting narcotics, arms and liquor-related offences across the city.

Cumulative Outcome (20–22 January 2026):

Across all three days, Commissionerate Police Amritsar rounded up a total of 301 suspects, all of whom were arrested. The operations resulted in significant recoveries including 134 grams of heroin, ₹2,00,361/- drug money, 06 sophisticated pistols, 06 magazines, 36 live cartridges (including 9 mm cartridges), 25 mobile phones, one knife, one motorcycle and 46 bottles of illicit liquor.

In addition, five proclaimed offenders (POs) were arrested during the three-day drive. Preventive action was taken against five gangster relatives and associates and multiple old and fresh arrests were effected, delivering a strong blow to organised and repeat criminal activity.

Action on Day 1 – 20 January 2026:

On the first day of OPS Prahaar, police teams rounded up and arrested 116 suspects. Recoveries included 27 grams of heroin, ₹130 in drug money, one knife and 11 bottles of illicit liquor.

As a key achievement, two proclaimed offender was arrested and one old arrest was executed. An additional recovery of ₹31 was also made during follow-up action.

Action on Day 2 – 21 January 2026:

Continuing the drive, Commissionerate Police Amritsar rounded up and arrested 111 suspects on the second day. Substantial recoveries were made, including 98 grams of heroin, ₹1200/- drug money, six pistols, six magazines, two cartridges, 25 mobile phones and one motorcycle.

Operational outcomes on this day included the arrest of one proclaimed offender and two other arrests, highlighting the sustained pressure on criminal elements.

Action on Day 3 – 22 January 2026:

On the third day, police teams rounded up and arrested 74 suspects. Recoveries comprised 9 grams of heroin, ₹1,99,000/- in drug money, 34 cartridges (9 mm), and 35 bottles of illicit liquor.

Preventive action was taken against five gangster relatives and associates, and two proclaimed offenders were arrested, marking a strong conclusion to the three-day operation.

Commissionerate Police Amritsar reiterated its firm resolve to continue such sustained, intelligence-driven operations to curb organised crime, narcotics trafficking, illegal arms and liquor-related offences, and to ensure public safety and order across the city.

Arms Act From 01-01-2025 Till Date

Till date, 205 accused have been arrested and 92 FIRs registered under the Arms Act.

Major recoveries include 256 pistols, 10 revolvers, 02 rifles, 253 magazines and 453 cartridges, along with ₹18.75 lakh hawala money.
