Megastar Amitabh Bachchan expressed his admiration and curiosity towards India’s star shooter, Manu Bhaker, who recently won two bronze medals at the Paris Olympics.
During the latest episode of the quiz-based reality show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 16’, Bachchan welcomed Olympic medalists Manu Bhaker and Aman Sehrawat, the latter having secured a bronze in wrestling.
In a candid exchange, Amitabh Bachchan brought up a question that had long intrigued him about the shooting, asking Manu about the particular techniques that helped her excel in her sport.
“I used to wonder why shooters took so much time after taking a shot. I couldn’t understand it until Abhishek Bachchan explained that they’re controlling their breathing and heart rate, which is why they need that time,” Amitabh shared.
Manu Bhaker on Overcoming Challenges and Maintaining Focus
Reflecting on her journey and techniques, Manu Bhaker explained the critical role of focus and breath control in shooting. She said, “At the start, having a strong foundation is crucial, and that applies to everything. Many people think shooting is just about picking up the pistol and aiming, but it’s much more complex. Our heart rate goes up during matches, and we need to stay calm even when anxious.”
Manu added that she relies heavily on yoga, Surya Namaskar, and meditation to maintain her mental focus. A key part of her routine is a breathing technique where she inhales for four seconds and exhales for eight seconds. This practice, she said, helps regulate her heart rate and keeps her calm when under pressure.
“During matches, especially when our hands start to shake, this breathing exercise helps me stay focused,” she explained.
A Fun Moment on Set
In a light-hearted moment, Manu demonstrated her breathing technique to Amitabh, who, after trying it himself, humorously declared, “I’m also a champion now!”
‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 16’ continues to air on Sony TV, offering viewers moments of wisdom and entertainment as Amitabh Bachchan interacts with guests from different walks of life.
