Chandigarh, March 14, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
Former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab and Member of Parliament from Gurdaspur, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, termed the statement made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah at a BJP rally in Moga as shameful.
He said that in Moga, the Home Minister claimed that 45% of India’s heroin enters through Punjab. This is not merely a statistic; rather, Amit Shah, as Home Minister, is shamefully admitting his own failure. He should accept responsibility and resign from his position.
Randhawa said that the 50-kilometre stretch of the Punjab border from where drugs are reportedly being dropped via drones is under the control of the Border Security Force (BSF). Preventing the smuggling of drugs and weapons across the border is the responsibility of the BSF, and directing the BSF falls under the authority of the Union Home Ministry.
The truth, he said, is that under the leadership of the Home Minister, the BSF has turned the Pakistan border into a “sieve.” Drones are not only dropping narcotics but also weapons such as AK‑47 rifles and pistols.
These very weapons are being used by gangsters to murder our sons. The insecurity of the borders is the direct responsibility of Amit Shah’s department. He said the Home Minister must accept responsibility for the blood on his hands or resign.
Former Deputy Chief Minister Randhawa also said that the Government of Punjab is equally responsible for encouraging drugs and gangsterism in the state.
The state government has also failed to curb drug trafficking and law and order in Punjab is now slipping out of its control. Frequent incidents of extortion, violence, and robberies in Punjab are evidence of this. Both the Punjab government and the central government are directly responsible for the destruction of Punjab.
