New Delhi, September 27, 2024 (Yes Punjab News)

Akriti Chopra, co-founder and Chief People Officer of Zomato, has resigned from her position after a 13-year-long tenure with the food delivery giant.

The company informed the stock exchange about her resignation on September 27, 2024, stating that the resignation was effective immediately.

In her farewell email, which was shared publicly, Chopra addressed her resignation to Deepinder Goyal, Zomato’s CEO and founder, saying:
“Deepi, as discussed, formally sending in my resignation effective today, September 27, 2024. It’s been an incredibly enriching journey over the past 13 years. Thank you for everything. I’m always a call away. Wishing you and Eternal, the very best.”

Chopra, who is also the wife of Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa, played a significant role in the growth of the Gurugram-based company and was considered one of its key employees.

A Wave of Senior-Level Departures

Chopra’s exit adds to the list of high-profile departures from Zomato in recent years. Earlier, in January 2023, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Gunjan Patidar left the company, following the resignation of co-founder Mohit Gupta in late 2022.

Other senior executives, including Rahul Ganjoo, the head of new initiatives and former food delivery chief, and Siddharth Jhawar, who led the Intercity Legends service, also left around the same time.

Chopra is the fifth co-founder to leave Zomato in the past two years, following the exits of Patidar, Pankaj Chaddah (who left in 2018), Gaurav Gupta (who exited in 2021), and Mohit Gupta. These departures signal a significant leadership transition within the company as it continues to evolve in the highly competitive food delivery market.

Chopra’s contribution over the years has been pivotal in shaping Zomato’s culture and growth, and her departure marks the end of an era for the company.
