Akal Takht Jathedar’s statement on minorities: Badals should clear their stand: AAP

Chandigarh, July 15, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab has taken a strong exception to the statement made by Sri of Akal Takht jathedar Harpreet Singh, about the potential threat to the minority communities in the country, terming it as a serious issue of concern, seeking a clarification from Akali Dal (Badal) president and MP Sukhbir Singh Badal and his wife and Cabinet Minister in the Modi government Harsimrat Kaur Badal.

In a joint statement issued from party headquarters on Wednesday, party chief spokesperson Prof. Baljinder Kaur, spokespersons Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Kulwant Singh Pandori and Jai Krishan Singh Rouri (all MLAs) said that the statement made by Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib over the minority communities, saying that they (minority communities) across the country were being persecuted mentally and physically, which was a question mark on the working style of the Narendra Modi government at the Center, to which Sukhbir Singh Badal, and his wife and Harsimrat Kaur Badal stakeholders in the BJP-led government, at the centre owe a clarification.

Kultar Singh Sandhwan and Prof. Baljinder Kaur, addressing to Sukhbir Singh Badal, questioned: “Sri Akal Takht Sahib is the apex body of the Sikhs around the world and you (Badals) consider yourself to be the flag bearers of the Sikh Panth.

The people of Punjab and the Panth want you (Badals) to clarify whether you endorse the views expressed by Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht over the threat perception to minorities with reference to the Sikhs.

If yes, on what moral basis are you a part of the Modi government at the centre? And, if you do not buy the argument of the Jathedar, then come clean on the issue leaving the final decision of ‘clean chit’ to the Modi government to the people’ court.

Prof. Baljinder Kaur and Kultar Singh Sandhwan said the Badal family had to take a clear stand on such sensitive issues as they won’t be allowed to mislead Punjab and the Panth any more, just to stay relevant in power.

MLAs Jai Krishan Singh Rouri and Kulwant Singh Pandori cornered the Badals, saying that earlier Punjab’s industry had to be displaced and shifted to the neighboring states when Sukhbir Singh Badal was minister in the Modi government at the centre.

They said the Punjabi farmers were being displaced in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, saying the BJP government had left the Congress behind in robbing them (the states) of their legitimate rights by demolishing the federal structure. They also alleged that the Badals had played a dubious role in the citizenship amendment and anti-farmer ordinances.

The AAP MLAs called upon the Punjabis around the world to teach the Captain, the Badals and the BJP a lesson by defeating them in the 2022 elections.
