The Nanakshahi calendar for Samvat 555 (2023-24) was today released in the presence of prominent personalities by Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Harjinder Singh Dhami.
This year, the Nanakshahi calendar has been dedicated to the 200 year centenary of martyrdom day of Akali Baba Phula Singh, 300 year birth anniversary of Sardar Jassa Singh Ramgarhia, and 100 year of Jaito Da Morcha. In the calendar published by SGPC’s Dharam Prachar Committee (DPC), photos of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib, and coming centenary days have been published.
After releasing the calendar, talking to the media, SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami said that this year important centenary days are coming, which would be celebrated and marked with unity among the community. He said this year the Nanakshahi calendar for Samvat 555 has been released a month in advance than routine practice. He said the motive to release the calendar in advance is to apprise the Sangat about Gurpurbs and historical days in advance, as the suggestions are received from the Sangat.
SGPC President appealed to the community to celebrate and observe the Sikh days as per the Nanakshahi calendar released from Sri Akal Takht Sahib, so that unity and uniformity is maintained within the community.
He also appealed to the entire community to make joint efforts for the release of Bandi Singh (Sikh prisoners).
