The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) vehemently opposes the baseless accusations made by the Congress party regarding the installation of a waste processing plant in Dadu Majra. It is crucial for the public to understand the issue at hand and recognize the destructive role played by Congress and BJP in impeding Dadu Majra’s development while exploiting the garbage dump for financial gain.
Congress initiated the degradation and corruption in Dadu Majra by polluting a pristine water body with garbage, thereby setting the stage for deteriorating conditions and corruption in the area. The BJP also capitalized on this situation. The fact that Congress supported BJP in corruption, mayoral polls, and now in study tours reveals their complicity in the city’s declining state.
The AAP firmly believes in responsible governance and sustainable development. We acknowledge the concerns raised by the residents of Dadu Majra and the urgent need for a pollution-free and technologically advanced waste processing plant.
However, before allocating additional funds to new facilities, we must first hold corrupt councillors and officers in the Municipal Corporation accountable, thoroughly investigate the misappropriation of previous funds, learn from past failures, and implement best practices to clear the garbage within six months, as successfully achieved by the capable IAS (Municipal Corporation Commissioner) of Indore and documented by experts and scientists. We oppose wasting hundreds of crores on such facilities and fruitless study tours that have yielded no tangible results so far.
Our goal is to resolve the waste management issue, eliminate the foul odor, and minimize inconvenience to the surrounding population effectively.
It is regrettable that the Congress party is resorting to political opportunism and supporting the study tours and more corruption by establishment of a new waste processing plant for their own vested interests. Their stance not only undermines the seriousness of the waste management issue but also jeopardizes the future well-being of the entire Union Territory.
The AAP reiterates its unwavering commitment to Chandigarh’s development and the principles of good governance. We have always actively contributed to shaping the city’s growth, following the visionary path of the renowned architect Le Corbusier. Our aim is to preserve the city’s beauty and ensure a high quality of life for its residents.
Contrary to the allegations made by the Congress party, the AAP has consistently worked against regressive and anti-development policies. Our objective is to permanently remove the eyesore of garbage heaps that are harming the people, destroying the environment, and tarnishing Chandigarh’s reputation.
Unfortunately, the meaningful debate on these concrete proposals was derailed due to secret negotiations between the Congress party and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This behind-the-scenes deal silenced the concerns of conscientious citizens of Chandigarh and abruptly ended any constructive discussion on the matter.
The AAP firmly believes that Chandigarh’s development agenda should not be hindered by the vested interests and narrow-mindedness of both Congress and BJP councilors. Our elected representatives are dedicated to upholding the aspirations and welfare of the people, working towards sustainable growth and holistic development.
We denounce any attempts to suppress our voice and undermine our constructive agenda for the betterment of this beautiful city.
