AAP appeals Akal Takht to reject ‘shoddy’ probe report on missing ‘Saroops’

Chandigarh, October 9, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab has raised serious questions of propriety over the report of the three-member inquiry committee set up to look into the missing 328 Holy Saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, alleging that the clean chit given by the inquiry panel to top officials of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), who were allegedly responsible for their missing was an attempt to undermine the authority of highest Sikh body.

It alleged that more emphasis seemed to have been laid on concealing facts than revealing them levering it to meet their political aspirations. It further said that certain startling revelation had been made in this regard, saying that the SGPC had been reduced to a mere private property, by indulging in open ‘loot’ of the ‘golaks’, thus undermining the tenets propounded by the ‘Guru Sahibans’.

In a joint statement issued from party headquarters in Chandigarh here on Friday, senior party leader and MLA Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Prof Baljinder Kaur, Jai Singh Rouri, Kulwant Singh Pandori and Manjit Singh Bilaspur (All MLAs) appealed to the Jathedars of Sri Akal Takht to nix the investigation report based on shoddy investigation and bring the whole matter to light to entire ‘Sangat’, demanding registration of an FIR and a high level of impartial investigation into the matter.

The AAP leaders said, “There is no denying the fact that the Aam Aadmi Party is a secular party, but as humble Sikhs of the panth, they are disenchanted by the functioning of the SGPC, which is highly disgusting. If the SGPC cannot handle the Holy Swaroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib what else could be expected of it”

The AAP leaders further said that there was already a huge resentment among the Nanak Naam Lewa Sangat over the desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and the Behbal Kalan shooting incident, saying the real culprits had not yet not been awarded punishment, saying the incidents of the missing Swaroops had intensified seething anger among the Sikh community.

“Let there be no further test of the Sangat’s patience, and to assuage the hurt religious sentiments an FIIR be got registered and a time-barred inquiry be ordered”, they said.

The AAP leaders strongly advocated for holding the SGPC elections as soon as possible, calling upon the entire Sikh community to field honest and upright candidates to get rid of the SGPC’s ‘modern masands’.
