Balloons, caps, sweets, friends, relatives and music, may be you have celebrated your birthday in such a manner. But Haryana’s daughter Mamta Sodha, who scaled Mount Everest, has once again given a message to establish an emotional relationship with the mountains by hoisting the tricolor on the height of 14000 feet at Bhrigu Lake on her son’s birthday.
On the occasion of Haryana Day, she scaled Bhrigu Lake with her three-year-old son Aryan and her mountaineer husband Rajiv to motivate the youth of the state and the country to set a target in life and work hard to achieve it. Such kind of adventurous activities has not only connects people with nature but also motivate them to protect and conserve the environment.
It may be mentioned here that Mamta Sodha and her son’s birthday also falls on November 1 on the occasion of Haryana Day. With the increasing age of her son, the family celebrate this day in a different way to climb any mountain every year and the target is bigger than the last year.
She said that the purpose of organizing such an event is to keep the young generation away from the drug menace and gives them a message to generously contribute to the progress of the nation. The youth should set a goal in life and work hard to achieve it so that the country can move fast on the path of progress.
It is worth mentioning that the trekking of Bhrigu Lake starts from Gulaba, which is 22 km ahead of Manali. It is also a tedious and risky affair as trekkers has to walk somewhere steep and winding hills.
Last year too, on the second birthday of her son, Mamta Sodha celebrated Haryana Day in a very unique way by hoisting the tricolor at Chuddhar Peak Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) at 12,000 feet of Shivalik hills along with the family. Earlier in 2017, she celebrated the occasion at Karoh, the highest peak in Haryana. This peak is near Morni Hills in Panchkula at 4,813 feet.
Mamta Sodha scaled Mount Everest in May 2010 and she was awarded with Padma Shri in 2014 by former President Mr Pranab Mukherjee. Mamta Sodha is currently posted as DSP in Haryana Police.
