Efforts Towards Rehabilitation and Treatment, 104 Drug De-addiction Centers Operating in the State
Director General of Haryana HSNCB, O P Singh, said that drug addiction is not only a legal problem but also a mental and social health issue. Currently, 104 drug de-addiction centers in the state are treating the affected individuals.
For this, Haryana Police is working in collaboration with the Health Department. Last year, the district team of Haryana HSNCB inspected various government and non-government drug centers 65 times.
The district police is also keeping a close watch on the activities of drug sellers and medical associations to prevent the misuse of drugs. Regular meetings are held with drug sellers by Superintendents of Police and senior officers and they are made aware that they should not give medicines to any person without a doctor’s prescribed slip.
This is illegal and makes it easy for people to get drugs. Appealing to all sections of society, he said that they should contribute to the campaign against drugs and provide information about both drug buyers and drug sellers on the helpline number – 9050891508. The identity of the informant will be kept confidential.
Mr Singh said that to break the drug nexus, the State Police is also focusing on technology and interstate cooperation, which has strengthened our fight against drugs. Currently, the state police is using artificial intelligence and data analytics to identify drug traffickers and their routes, resulting in significant success in dismantling drug networks in partnership with neighbouring states.
Over 12 lakh people from across the state participated in the “Drug-Free Bharat Pakhwada” held in June 2024. In the last year 2024, HSNCB has reached 16,66,581 youth through 2572 awareness programs and made them aware against drugs.
