Jalandhar, Dec 23, 2024 (Yes Punjab News)

A visit to the Parliament of India, the supreme legislative body of the Republic of India, was an exciting and rare opportunity for 50 students from Lovely Professional University (LPU), accompanied by three faculty members.

During the visit, the students had the privilege of meeting and interacting with several prominent leaders, including Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar; the Vice President of India, Shri Om Birla; the Speaker of Lok Sabha, Shri Mallikarjun Kharge; the President of the Indian National Congress, Smt. Sonia Gandhi and Shri J.P. Nadda, the National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party. These distinguished political figures shared valuable insights into the nation’s governance and students shared their perspectives on politics.

Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Founder Chancellor of LPU, facilitated this memorable visit and emphasized the importance of giving students a deep understanding of India’s legislative processes and national heritage.

Dr. Mittal emphasized, “The primary purpose of this visit is to empower students by equipping them with knowledge and exposure to the core of India’s political and legislative systems.

This is crucial for the nation’s future, as the youth will play a major role in shaping it. By engaging with key leaders, students gain first hand insights into the functioning that influence the country’s progress and development.”

The students also had the rare opportunity to witness a Rajya Sabha session, gaining first hand experience of the legislative processes that influence the country’s decisions.

They were struck by the sheer scale and architectural magnificence of the Parliament, which seemed to embody the entire nation within its walls, symbolizing India’s vast diversity and strength. The grandeur of the Parliament’s design left a lasting impression, reflecting the country’s rich history, heritage, and democratic ideals.

Arani Dutta, a Biotechnology 3rd-year student, shared, “Walking through the Parliament was an overwhelming experience.

The grandeur left me in awe, and it felt as though the entire nation resides here — a true reflection of India’s power and unity.” Shahin, a B.Tech CSE 2nd-year student, added, “Visiting Parliament and seeing democracy in action was life-changing. It motivated me to become more involved in shaping our country’s future.”

For all the students, meeting influential leaders and witnessing the political processes up close was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. This experience ignited a deeper sense of responsibility to become active participants in shaping the future, inspiring students to engage more meaningfully with India’s political and societal development.
