Agriculture College Cinches Overall Trophy at PAU Youth Festival

Ludhiana, Nov 22, 2024 (Yes Punjab News)

Amid dhol beats and fast-paced folk dances showcasing the vibrancy of Punjab’s rich cultural heritage, the Inter-College Youth Festival concluded at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) on Thursday evening.

The College of Agriculture lifted the overall trophy in addition to running trophies for literary, dance, music and theatre items. The College of Community Science clinched the running trophies for fine arts and heritage items.

Dressed-up in typical traditional costumes, bedecked with multi-coloured bangles and jewellery as well as adorning turbans, the girl and boy students exhilarated the atmosphere with their power-packed performances in giddha and bhangra.

The 10-day youth fest enlivened the faculty and the students through wide range of events encompassing fine arts items – displaying artistic genre; literary items – exhibiting intellectual aptitude; music items – sounding pleasant to ears; dance items – presenting students’ vivacity and zealousness; heritage items – rooting youth’s into their roots; and theatre items – demonstrating huge disparity between simple past and hi-tech present.

The societal impact of the states’ youth on the perilous path of drug addiction, their obsession with social media and rising unemployment were touched upon during drama enactment.

The delicate social fabric of Punjab, which was on the verge of collapse due to splitsvilla between the greedy youth shifting to foreign lands to earn big bucks and the respectable senior citizens (families) staying back in Punjab and left in the hands of strangers, also won the applause of the spectators.

The chief guest Sardar Hardeep Singh Mundian, Housing and Urban Development, Water Supply and Sanitation Minister, Punjab, lauded the unbridled passion of the students for participation in the youth fest. Later, he congratulated the participants and gave away the prizes to the winners.

Stating that participation was important than winning, Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, said, “This unique platform is a microcosm, paving way for new innings which lie ahead.” He exhorted the students to think out of box, make unceasing devotion to their respective domains and stay cheerful in challenging times.

Dr Nirmal Singh Jaura, Director Students’ Welfare, lauded the efforts of his entire team in successful conduct of the fest and proposed a vote of thanks.
