Mohali Police have arrested three alleged members of an arms smuggling network and recovered 10 pistols and 20 live cartridges in an operation conducted by the CIA Staff, Kharar, officials said on Thursday.
The operation was carried out under the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Varun Sharma, IPS, under the supervision of Saurav Jindal, Superintendent of Police (Investigation), and Akashdeep Singh, Superintendent of Police (Operations). The CIA Staff team was led by Inspector Pardeep Singh Bajwa.
Addressing the media, SSP Varun Sharma said the investigation followed the earlier arrest of two armed suspects by the CIA Staff. Police subsequently gathered intelligence about suspicious individuals residing in Kharar and surrounding areas.
During the inquiry, Sachin alias Bachhi, a resident of Mangali village in Haryana’s Hisar district who was currently living at Casa Homes in Sante Majra, Kharar, came under suspicion. According to police, he allegedly procured modern and advanced illegal firearms at relatively low prices from Indore in Madhya Pradesh and areas of Uttar Pradesh before supplying them at higher prices in Kharar, Mohali and nearby areas.
Police said further verification revealed that Sachin had previously been booked in cases relating to arms trafficking and fights. His activities were subsequently kept under surveillance.
According to the police, Sachin is a distant relative of a criminal identified as Kirti Mann, who was allegedly associated with a module of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Police said Kirti Mann was shot dead in August 2026 by alleged members of gangster Rohit Godara’s gang at a court in Charkhi Dadri, Haryana.
Following the collection of what police described as credible information, Sachin was arrested on October 13 in connection with FIR No. 468, registered on the same date under Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act at Sadar Kharar police station. Two pistols and two live cartridges were recovered from him, police said.
During questioning, Sachin allegedly disclosed information about his associates, Mahikdeep Singh alias Mahik and Harmanpreet Singh alias Honey. Both were subsequently named in the case and arrested in accordance with legal procedure, according to police.
Two additional illegal pistols were also recovered from the Scorpio vehicle allegedly used by the accused. With the subsequent recoveries, the total number of pistols seized in the case has reached 10, police said.
Police further stated that Mahikdeep Singh, a resident of Fatehgarh Sahib district, was wanted in an attempted murder-related case registered at Fatehgarh Sahib police station.
The police have obtained remand of the accused for further investigation. Further action is underway to establish the alleged supply network and examine other aspects of the case.
