Anurag Dalal, an independent candidate, Thursday scored an unprecedented victory in the Panjab University student council elections, defeating the candidates for the post of president of all major parties.
Anurag Dalal Congress was a member of the Congress Student Wing NSUI but the party selected Rahul Nain as its candidate.
Chandigarh NSUI President Sikander Bhura and Anurag Dalal formed a Democratic Front after quitting NSUI just 5 days before the start of the election process in PU.
Anurag Dalal got 3434 votes defeating his nearest rival Prince Chowdhury, the presidential candidate of Aam Aadmi Party’s student wing. Prince Chaudhary got 3129 votes.
Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad candidate Arpita Malik got only 1114 votes while NSUI official candidate Rahul Nain could get only 497 votes.
