Five Held in Amritsar Drug and Arms Network Cases, 13 Pistols and 3.267 Kg Heroin Seized

Amritsar Commissionerate Police has dismantled three alleged drug trafficking and illegal arms supply networks with the arrest of five people and the recovery of 13 pistols, 3.267 kg of heroin and 22 live cartridges, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said on Wednesday.

The arrests were made as part of the ongoing drive to curb drug trafficking and illegal weapons in the state.

The arrested accused have been identified as Krish Gold, 20, of Lohgarh in Amritsar; Kunal Mehta alias Kannu, 21, of Katra Dullo in Amritsar; Robin, 21, of Hindustan Basti in Amritsar; Jaskaran Singh alias Jass, 36, of Bhootanpura in Amritsar; and Jobanpreet Singh alias Joban, 22, of Naushehra Dhalla village in Tarn Taran.

According to police, Jaskaran Singh is a habitual offender and has five previous criminal cases registered against him under the NDPS Act, Arms Act and other provisions.

The weapons recovered include eight .30-bore PX-3 pistols, three .30-bore pistols, one 9mm Glock and one 9mm pistol. Police also seized 22 live cartridges and impounded a car allegedly used for smuggling activities.

DGP Gaurav Yadav said preliminary investigation indicated that the arrested accused were involved in supplying illegal weapons and narcotics in the region.

He said further investigation was underway to establish the complete backward and forward linkages of the network and identify other persons allegedly involved, including foreign-based handlers.

Sharing details of the operations, Amritsar Commissioner of Police Harmanbir Singh Gill said the first operation resulted in the arrest of Krish Gold and Kunal Mehta alias Kannu and the recovery of two .30-bore pistols.

Three additional pistols, 14 live cartridges and 1.227 kg of heroin were subsequently recovered based on Kunal Mehta’s disclosure, the CP said. Further interrogation led police to arrest their alleged accomplice Robin from Civil Lines.

In the second operation, police intercepted a car and arrested Jaskaran Singh alias Jass after recovering 2.040 kg of heroin from the vehicle, Gill said.

In the third operation, acting on specific information, police arrested Jobanpreet Singh alias Joban and recovered eight PX-3 pistols and eight live cartridges from his possession.

Three separate cases have been registered in connection with the recoveries.

These include FIR No. 168 dated September 25, 2026, under Sections 25(6), 25(7) and 25(8) of the Arms Act and Section 21-C of the NDPS Act at D-Division Police Station; FIR No. 228 dated September 28 under Section 21-C of the NDPS Act; and FIR No. 230 dated September 29 under Section 25 of the Arms Act, both registered at Chheharta Police Station.

Police said further investigation is underway.
