Misl Satluj Party president Ajaypal Singh Brar has appealed to Punjabis to participate in large numbers in a march seeking the release of Bandi Singhs, scheduled to be held on October 2 from Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib to Takht Sri Damdama Sahib.
In a statement issued in Mohali, Brar said the Misl Satluj Party would actively participate in the march and called upon people to join the event peacefully and in a disciplined manner.
Highlighting the long-pending demand for the release of Bandi Singhs, Brar urged the governments concerned to address the issue with sensitivity, taking into account its legal, constitutional and humanitarian dimensions.
He said the continued imprisonment of Bandi Singhs who have completed their sentences raises serious concerns relating to justice and human rights. The march, he added, aims to draw the attention of the public and governments to the issue while creating greater awareness about the demand for their release.
According to Brar, the march will commence at Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib and culminate at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib. Representatives of various Sikh organisations, religious institutions and members of the Sangat are expected to take part.
He said Misl Satluj Party volunteers were actively reaching out to members of the Sangat and disseminating information about the proposed march to encourage wider participation.
Appealing to Punjabis across the state to join the event, Brar said peaceful and disciplined participation would help strengthen the demand for the release of Bandi Singhs and bring greater public attention to the issue.
