Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has directed all concerned Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) to update pension records to ensure timely disbursement of financial benefits to pensioners and family pensioners.
Er. Harparveen Singh Bindra, Chief Engineer, Distribution West Zone, Bathinda, said the issue came to light during a meeting between PSPCL CMD Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, IAS, the PSEB Joint Forum and the Bijli Mulazam Ekta Manch Punjab.
During the meeting, it was brought to the management’s notice that the dates of death of some pensioners and dates of birth of some family pensioners had not been recorded in the pension package. The missing information was causing difficulties in availing benefits such as old-age allowance and Leave Travel Concession (LTC).
Verification found that the date of death of 2,109 pensioners and the date of birth of 876 family pensioners had not been updated in the records.
Taking note of the matter, PSPCL CMD Gurkirat Kirpal Singh has directed all concerned DDOs to complete the exercise within 15 days so that eligible pensioners and family pensioners can receive their financial benefits smoothly and on time.
PSPCL issued a letter dated September 23, 2026, directing all DDOs to immediately verify pension records and update the required information based on relevant documents.
The corporation has also instructed offices to contact pensioners directly if any document or information is incomplete and facilitate completion of the necessary formalities.
