Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) CMD Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, IAS, held his first meeting with leaders of around 37 employee organisations at the PSPCL Head Office on Wednesday, discussing their demands, pending issues and concerns.
The meeting was attended by Directors and other senior officers of the Corporation and was held in a peaceful and cordial atmosphere.
Representatives of the employee organisations apprised the CMD of various issues confronting employees, with demands related to promotions receiving particular attention. They sought early resolution of pending matters and other employee-related concerns.
Gurkirat Kirpal Singh said differences of opinion between employees and management on various issues were natural, but emphasised that dialogue and mutual discussion should be the preferred means of resolving them before matters reached the stage of protests or agitation.
He said resolving an issue in the interest of employees through dialogue, without the need for agitation, provided a sense of satisfaction to both the management and employees.
The CMD assured the representatives that efforts would be made to resolve at the earliest all demands that could be addressed at the Corporation level. He added that issues requiring intervention at the government level would be brought to the attention of the state government.
He also directed the concerned officers to take necessary steps for early resolution of promotion-related demands and other pending matters raised during the meeting.
The employee organisation leaders assured the PSPCL management of their full cooperation and welcomed the initiative to keep channels of dialogue open for resolving employees’ concerns through mutual discussion.
