Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Wednesday said the state government has set the teacher recruitment process in motion and applications for fresh recruitment will be invited shortly.
Cheema, who also heads the Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted to resolve employees’ issues, held a series of meetings with representatives of 10 education sector unions and the Thermal Plant Karamchari Sangh of the Power Department in Chandigarh.
During the meetings, employee representatives raised issues concerning fresh recruitment, transfers, pay structures and other pending matters. Cheema assured the unions that the government would take up their legitimate grievances for early resolution.
“The Bhagwant Mann Government has already set the teacher recruitment process in motion, and advertisements inviting applications will be released shortly,” Cheema said.
He directed officials of the Education Department to complete the required procedures without delay and forward matters requiring Cabinet approval expeditiously.
On recruitment backlogs, the Finance Minister instructed the Education Department to convene a joint meeting with senior officials of the Departments of Social Security, Sports, Defence Services Welfare and Personnel to work towards resolving pending issues.
In a separate meeting with representatives of the Thermal Plant Karamchari Sangh, Cheema directed Power Department authorities to address their legitimate demands at the earliest.
The education sector unions represented at the meetings included the Berozgar Special Educator Front, Special Cadre Teacher Front, Head Master Association (PES-II), Sarkari School Laboratory Staff Union, ETT TET Pass 5994 Backlog Adhyapak Union, Daftari Karamchari Union, Computer Teachers Union, United Physical Education, Berozgar B.Ed TET Pass Adhyapak Union and NSQF Vocational Teachers Front.
The meeting was attended by union representatives including Lakhvir Singh, Sarabjit Singh, Manjit Singh, Satnam Singh, Jaswant Pannu, Beant Singh, Kapoor Singh, Inderjit Handa, Kulwinder Singh Kataria, Bhagwant Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Harmesh Kataria, Jaswant Rai, Patwant Singh, Dilpreet Singh Bhinder, Pradeep Kumar, Ashok Bawa, Lakhwinder Singh, Raj Kumar, Sarabjit Nidhana, Rajinder Singh Sandha, Jagseer Singh, Vikas Kumar, Varun Jain, Harjit Singh Sandhu, Nardeep Sharma, Anil Airy, Kulwinder Singh, Kuldeep Kaur, Mandeep Singh, Lakhbir Singh, Nachhatar Singh, Harpreet Singh, Ranjit Singh, Bhupinder Singh and Gurjit Singh.
Representatives of the Thermal Plant Karamchari Sangh included Bhagwan Singh, Harpreet Singh and Ajit Singh.
The Punjab government’s existing eServices portal lists online application services for posts including Special Educator Teachers in the Primary and Master cadres.
