A packed auditorium at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law witnessed the Patiala staging of ‘Humare Ram’, a theatrical production depicting the life, ideals and enduring teachings of Lord Shri Ram through contemporary stagecraft.
Renowned actor Ashutosh Rana’s portrayal of Ravana was among the major highlights of the opening-day performance, drawing enthusiastic applause from the audience. Soulful music, powerful dialogues, elaborate visuals and stagecraft complemented the performances and created an immersive theatrical experience.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh attended the first-day show along with Deputy Commissioner Dr Himanshu Aggarwal, OSD Urban Development Mukilan R, ADC Damanjit Singh Mann, Colonel J.V., Jasbir Singh Gandhi, Padma Shri Pran Sabharwal and a large number of spectators.
Dr Balbir Singh said the Patiala performance was part of a state-wide cultural initiative under which the Bhagwant Mann Government is organising 41 free theatre shows across Punjab. The initiative is intended to make the production accessible to people from different sections of society and acquaint audiences with the life and ideals associated with Lord Shri Ram.
The Minister said the initiative, being organised under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, seeks to convey the enduring messages of truth, righteousness, compassion and unity, while strengthening awareness of values associated with Sanatan Dharma.
He added that two more shows of ‘Humare Ram’ will be staged in Patiala on September 19.
Directed by Gaurav Bhardwaj and produced by Felicity Theatre, the production presents the life and ideals of Lord Shri Ram in a contemporary theatrical format while retaining its spiritual foundation in the Valmiki Ramayana.
The play has received a positive response from audiences in India and abroad, with young viewers being among those who have particularly responded to its presentation of the epic’s characters and values.
