Chandigarh, September 15, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal has expelled party leader Ravinder Singh Brahmpura from the party’s primary membership, citing his alleged involvement in anti-party activities over a prolonged period.

According to a statement issued by the SAD, written complaints regarding Brahmpura’s alleged activities had been received from party workers in the Khadoor Sahib constituency.

The party said its local leadership had also raised the matter during the Punjab Bachao rally held at Sri Goindwal Sahib on September 13. According to the SAD, local leaders provided detailed information about what they described as attempts by Brahmpura to work against the party.

Badal took the decision after discussing the matter with senior party leaders on Monday, the statement said.

The SAD president said party discipline would be maintained at all costs and asserted that action would be taken against those found engaging in activities against the organisation.

“Party discipline will be maintained at all costs,” the SAD said, quoting Badal.

With the expulsion, Brahmpura has been removed from the primary membership of the Shiromani Akali Dal on the grounds cited by the party.
