Ludhiana Lions captain Salil Arora said his team is ready for every challenge as they take on Amritsar Soormas in the final of the inaugural Sher-e-Punjab T20 League at the I.S. Bindra Stadium on Sunday.
The Lions enter the summit clash on the back of a 17-run semi-final victory over Jalandhar Warriors. Salil led from the front with a blistering 120 off 56 balls, while Sahil Bhaskar produced the tournament’s best bowling figures so far, claiming 6/16.
“The slate is clean and we carry nothing but positivity into the finals against Amritsar Soormas. We are ready for any and every challenge that they will throw at us, and the boys are ready to do whatever it takes to win the inaugural Sher-e-Punjab T20 League,” Salil said.
He added that the team would maintain the same cohesive approach that had guided them through the tournament, with players focused on executing their individual and collective plans.
Lions team director Jasvir Bhojgi praised Bhaskar, who leads the tournament’s bowling charts with 20 wickets, calling him one of the finds of the season. He also highlighted the emergence of Kartik Chadha, Arjun Rajput and Madhav Singh Pathania as evidence of the team’s talent-scouting efforts across Punjab.
Ludhiana had also defeated Amritsar in their last league meeting, with Salil scoring 69 off 36 balls to win the Player of the Match award. Bhaskar, Chadha and Krish Bhagat also contributed with the ball.
The Lions, however, will miss pacer Arshdeep Singh, who has joined the national team, while Arjun Rajput is unavailable due to his India U-19 assignment against Australia.
Head coach Sunil Saggi said the team responded strongly after losing their first three matches. He credited Chadha and Bhaskar for their role in the campaign and praised Salil for successfully balancing his responsibilities as captain and batter.
“After losing three matches on the trot, the team was given a simple communication, which is to increase the effort on the field,” Saggi said, adding that converting smaller match-ups had made the difference in their turnaround.
