The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will organise a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ across Punjab from September 17 to October 17 to mark the completion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25-year journey in public service, Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon said on Saturday.
Announcing details of the campaign, Dhillon said the programme had been planned under the directions of BJP national president Nitin Nabin. He said Modi would complete 25 years of public service on October 7, 2026, and BJP workers would reach villages and households across Punjab to highlight the Prime Minister’s journey and initiatives.
Dhillon said Modi began his public service journey as Gujarat Chief Minister in 2001 and served three consecutive terms before becoming Prime Minister in 2014. He said the development journey that began in Gujarat was now linked to the goal of building a developed India by 2047.
He highlighted initiatives including Make in India, Digital India, Skill India, Startup India, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Ujjwala, Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Swachh Bharat, Jal Jeevan Mission and Kisan Samman Nidhi, claiming these had improved the lives of poor people, farmers and other needy sections.
On Punjab, Dhillon claimed that the Modi Government had provided more than ₹17 lakh crore over the past 12 years for roads, railways, agriculture and infrastructure. He also cited the Sri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, celebrations of the 550th Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and 400th Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, Veer Bal Diwas and legal action against those accused in the 1984 anti-Sikh massacre as measures he said had enhanced Sikh community pride.
The campaign will feature 13 major programmes. It will begin on September 17 with blood donation camps across Punjab, followed by the lighting of an ‘Ashirwad Ka Diya’ at 7 pm by beneficiaries and workers at their homes.
Schools will hold painting and speech competitions under ‘Mere Sapno Ka Bharat—Chitra Seva’, while villages will stage a 30-minute play, ‘Namo Seva—Ankahi Kahaniyan’. Anganwadi and ASHA workers will be honoured under ‘Aangan Milan Seva’, and videos showcasing changes in people’s lives will be shared through ‘Seva Ki Kahani’.
Other programmes include the ‘Seva Jyoti Yatra’, ‘Seva—Mera Yogdan’, ‘Seva Setu’ camps, ‘Seva Ke Rang, Rashtra Ke Sang’ rangoli activities and ‘Jan Sevak Mahakumbh’ for village panches and sarpanches.
Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Jayanti will be observed on September 25, while a special cleanliness drive will be held on October 2 under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to mark Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti.
Dhillon said the Punjab BJP would work with dedication to make the campaign a success.
