Chandigarh, September 8, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
The Punjab Police Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Behbal Kalan firing case has again summoned Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president and former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal for questioning.
Badal has been asked to appear before the SIT in Chandigarh on September 11, 2026.
This will be another round of questioning of the SAD chief in connection with the case. He was last summoned by the SIT on July 20.
Confirming that Badal would comply with the latest summons, SAD spokesperson and senior leader Advocate Arshdeep Singh Kaler said the party president would appear before the investigating team on September 11.
Kaler said repeated questioning would not result in any change in the position maintained by Badal or the Shiromani Akali Dal.
“No matter how many times the Akali Dal or its president is summoned, our statements will remain unchanged,” Kaler said.
The SAD leader also questioned the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government over the progress of the Behbal Kalan firing case.
Kaler asked why the investigation had still not reached its conclusion and questioned the delay in filing the challan against those allegedly responsible for the incident.
He alleged that repeated action involving Opposition leaders was being used by the state government to divert public attention from its own failures.
Kaler maintained that the Shiromani Akali Dal stood by what it considered to be the truth and accused the Punjab government of failing to proceed against those responsible for the Behbal Kalan incident.
The latest summons brings Sukhbir Badal before the SIT once again as the investigation into the Behbal Kalan firing case continues.
