Newly appointed Punjab BJP SC Morcha president Sheetal Angural assumed charge of his new responsibility at a programme held at the Punjab BJP office on Friday, with Punjab BJP State President Kewal Singh Dhillon formally welcoming him and seating him in his office.
Dhillon congratulated Angural and expressed confidence that his experience as an active and grassroots-oriented leader would help strengthen the SC Morcha and expand the BJP’s organisational presence across Punjab.
The programme was attended by SC Morcha National General Secretary Sanjay Nirmal, former Union Minister Vijay Sampla, former SC Morcha president S.R. Laddhar, National Secretary Santokh Singh Gumtala, Punjab BJP State Media Head Vineet Joshi, besides SC Morcha office-bearers, district-level leaders and a large number of party workers.
Congratulating Angural, Dhillon urged him to draw on the experience and guidance of former SC Morcha presidents, particularly S.R. Laddhar, along with other senior leaders, to further strengthen the organisation.
Dhillon said the Scheduled Caste community has made a significant contribution to the development of Punjab and the country and stressed that the nation’s overall progress cannot be achieved without the participation and advancement of the community.
He said the BJP draws inspiration from the teachings of Shri Guru Ravidas Ji and Baba Sahib Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Ji. According to Dhillon, the party seeks to promote social harmony by advancing the concept of ‘Begampura’ envisioned by Guru Ravidas Ji, based on equality, dignity and freedom from discrimination, along with Dr. Ambedkar’s message of social justice and equality.
Dhillon also highlighted the nationwide celebrations marking the 650th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Ravidas Ji under the ‘Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan’. He said a Kalash Yatra carrying sacred soil from the birthplace of Guru Sahib is travelling across different parts of the country and called upon the SC Morcha to play an active role in such social and service-oriented initiatives.
Taking aim at the Punjab government, Dhillon alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party government had pushed the state backwards on multiple fronts. He cited concerns over drugs, law and order and gangsterism, and claimed that youth, farmers, labourers, employees and teachers were among the sections dissatisfied with the government’s performance.
He said people were increasingly looking towards the BJP for change and that party workers therefore had a greater responsibility to communicate the alleged failures of the Punjab government while also taking the welfare schemes and achievements of the BJP-led Central Government to the people.
Dhillon called for the SC Morcha’s active participation in all major party programmes. He said the Morcha would also have an important role in the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ being launched on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday and urged workers to help ensure that the benefits of Central Government welfare schemes reach poor and needy people.
With the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections approaching, Dhillon called upon party workers to intensify their grassroots activities and maintain continuous contact with people in their respective areas.
He said the BJP’s objective for 2027 was not merely a change in government but to put Punjab on a path of development, prosperity and progress. He expressed confidence that a strong grassroots campaign by the SC Morcha, combined with sustained public outreach by party workers, could contribute to the BJP’s goal of forming a government in Punjab.
After taking charge, Angural thanked Dhillon and the senior party leadership for entrusting him with the responsibility. He said he would discharge the role with honesty and dedication and assured the leadership that the SC Morcha would work to take the BJP’s programmes and policies to the grassroots.
Angural also pledged to strengthen the Morcha’s organisational presence and contribute to the party’s efforts to form a BJP government in Punjab in the 2027 Assembly elections.
