Bharatiya Janata Party Punjab president Kewal Singh Dhillon has attributed India’s rapid economic growth to the policies and leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the country is steadily strengthening its position amid economic challenges faced by several major economies globally.
Dhillon said India’s GDP growth rate of 7.8 per cent in the first quarter reflected the strength and resilience of the Indian economy. He said India’s growth rate, compared with that of other major economies, demonstrated the country’s emergence as an important engine of global economic growth.
He said growth of 12.1 per cent in the IT and financial services sector, 9.2 per cent in manufacturing and 11.9 per cent in investment and infrastructure reflected the impact of government policies focused on industry, investment and infrastructure development.
Dhillon said a 7.1 per cent rise in domestic consumption and 12 per cent growth in exports further reflected the strength of India’s domestic economy and its expanding role in global markets.
He said India was moving rapidly towards Prime Minister Modi’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’, with a strong economy, modern infrastructure, rising industrial production, digital transformation and expanding opportunities for the youth forming key pillars of the development journey.
Dhillon said India’s confidence and global influence were also increasing under the Modi government. He added that the country’s economic progress demonstrated that the combination of appropriate policies, strong leadership and public participation could help India achieve the goal of becoming a developed and self-reliant nation by 2047.
