The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) received a boost in Sangrur on Thursday as two sitting Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) municipal councillors and a former senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader joined the party in the presence of Punjab BJP State President Sardar Kewal Singh Dhillon and State General Secretary Jiwan Garg.
Those who joined the BJP include Sardar Parminder Singh (Pinkey), sitting Municipal Councillor from Ward No. 26, AAP District Vice President and former office-bearer of the party’s Backward Classes (BC) wing; Sardar Harpreet Singh Sekhon, sitting Municipal Councillor from Ward No. 24, Sangrur; and Lalit Garg, former senior SAD leader and former AAP district-level leader, who is also Vice President of Aggarwal Sabha and Secretary of the Trade Wing, Sangrur.
Welcoming the new entrants, Sardar Kewal Singh Dhillon said their decision to join the BJP reflected growing confidence among grassroots leaders in the party’s leadership and policies. He said the BJP was emerging as a strong political alternative in Punjab, with leaders from different political backgrounds coming forward to strengthen its organisation.
Dhillon said the BJP welcomed experienced leaders and public representatives willing to contribute towards building a stronger, more prosperous and developed Punjab. He expressed confidence that the experience and public connect of the new entrants would further strengthen the party organisation in Sangrur and neighbouring areas.
The newly joined leaders expressed confidence in the BJP’s leadership and policies and pledged to work dedicatedly to strengthen the party organisation and take its programmes and vision to the people of Punjab.
