Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, accompanied by AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab in-charge Manish Sisodia, on Sunday visited the Art of Living Ashram in Bengaluru and met spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
The three leaders offered prayers for the progress, prosperity and peace of Punjab and the country. Mann also addressed a gathering of devotees and meditated at the Ashram, describing the experience as one that brought him a deep sense of spiritual peace and inner tranquillity.
In a post on X, Mann said he had the privilege of seeking Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s blessings along with Kejriwal and Sisodia. He also spoke about his experience of addressing the devotees and meditating in the Ashram’s serene surroundings.
Calling his meeting with Sri Sri Ravi Shankar a “divine experience”, Mann said the interaction and meditation had been deeply peaceful.
The Chief Minister also highlighted Punjab’s historical and cultural contribution to India, describing the state as the “land of five rivers” and saying its history, culture and traditions had made an important contribution to the country’s civilisation.
Referring to Punjab as the “Sword Arm of the country”, Mann said its people had repeatedly defended the nation against external and internal threats. He said Punjab’s ability to withstand challenges over thousands of years had shaped its resilient character.
Mann also underlined Punjab’s secular and inclusive social ethos, stressing the importance of communal harmony, peaceful coexistence and mutual respect.
He said the Punjab Government’s agenda extended beyond development and included strengthening social, moral, ethical and national values, particularly among young people.
Praising Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s work among the younger generation, Mann said his teachings and guidance had inspired people across society. He expressed hope that the spiritual leader would continue guiding people through his wisdom and blessings.
The Chief Minister further called for strengthening communal harmony, peaceful coexistence, social equality and universal brotherhood, describing these values as essential for building a peaceful, harmonious and inclusive society.
