Punjab Police Constable on 112 Duty Wins Rs 7-Crore Rakhi Bumper Lottery

Ferozepur, August 30, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

A Punjab Police constable posted on emergency helpline duty in Ferozepur has struck a Rs 7-crore jackpot after a routine lottery purchase turned into a life-changing windfall.

Gurpreet Singh, 28, a resident of Malwal Qadeem village, won the first prize in the Rakhi Bumper Draw. He is currently serving on 112 emergency helpline duty, responding to calls seeking police assistance.

Gurpreet had purchased the lottery ticket during a routine visit to Ferozepur city for personal work. He was unaware that the ticket had won the bumper prize until Sunday morning, when he learnt about his fortune while performing sewa at Gurdwara Vajidpur Sahib.

Gurpreet joined the Punjab Police as a constable in 2022. News of his win soon triggered celebrations at his residence, with relatives, friends and villagers visiting to congratulate him.

“It is nothing short of a dream come true. I never imagined that this ticket would bring me a Rs 7-crore windfall,” Gurpreet said.

Gurpreet is one of four siblings. His father, Darshan Singh, retired in 2019 after serving as a railway train guard. He has two married sisters and a brother.

The winning ticket was sold by N K Agency at Udham Singh Chowk. Agency owner Trilok Singh and his team also celebrated after learning that their ticket had won the bumper first prize.

A photograph released after the win showed Gurpreet and his father wearing garlands alongside Trilok Singh at N K Agency in Ferozepur.
