Punjab Advocate General Maninderjit Singh Bedi has been appointed Chairman of the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana by the Bar Council of India (BCI).
Bedi, who is currently serving as Advocate General for Punjab, brings extensive experience at the Bar to the new responsibility. The Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana is the statutory body responsible for regulating the legal profession and legal education in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh.
The appointment is being viewed as an important development for the legal fraternity in the region.
Expressing gratitude to members of the legal fraternity for placing their confidence in him, Bedi said he would work towards the welfare of advocates while maintaining high standards of professional ethics.
He also said efforts would be made to strengthen legal education and improve infrastructure related to the profession.
The legal fraternity in Punjab and Haryana has welcomed Bedi’s appointment and expressed confidence in his leadership of the Bar Council.
