A special Teej celebration for women was organised in Anandpur Sahib on Wednesday, with Dr Gurpreet Kaur Mann, wife of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, attending the programme as the chief guest.
The event, held in the Anandpur Sahib Assembly constituency represented by Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, featured traditional songs, music, cultural performances and other activities celebrating the festival of Teej.
The programme also coincided with the transfer of financial assistance to women registered under the Punjab government’s Maavan-Dheeyan Satkar Yojna. As the assistance was credited directly to their bank accounts, participating women expressed happiness and said the support would help them meet everyday and family-related expenses.
The women said direct benefit transfers were also helping them become more financially self-reliant. They described the assistance not merely as financial support but as a recognition of women’s contribution and dignity.
Several women expressed gratitude to the Bhagwant Mann-led government, saying the scheme had strengthened their financial position and boosted their confidence. They also voiced support for the Chief Minister and the Aam Aadmi Party, while expressing hope that the government would receive a stronger mandate in the next Assembly elections.
Dr Gurpreet Kaur Mann interacted with women participating in the celebrations and joined them in the festive activities. The women shared their experiences of receiving benefits under the scheme and discussed its impact on their daily lives.
The programme concluded amid traditional festivities and expressions of support for continued efforts towards women’s economic empowerment and dignity.
