Guru Ravidas Ji’s 650th Prakash Purab: 92 drone shows across Punjab from September 1

Chandigarh, August 21, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Punjab Government will organise 92 drone shows across all Assembly constituencies from September 1 as part of year-long celebrations marking the 650th Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji, Tourism and Cultural Affairs Advisor Deepak Bali said on Friday.

Addressing a press conference, Bali said the drone shows would be held across the Malwa, Doaba and Majha regions and would use modern technology to showcase Guru Ravidas Ji’s life, teachings and philosophy, particularly for the younger generation.

The state government has allocated around Rs 100 crore for the celebrations, which will include religious, cultural, educational and social programmes aimed at spreading the saint’s message of equality, social harmony, brotherhood and human dignity.

Bali said 12 special Kirtan Samagams are being organised across Punjab, of which seven have already been held. A documentary on Guru Ravidas Ji’s life, Bani and contribution to society is also being screened in villages across the state.

Four major Shobha Yatras will travel from Varanasi, Jammu, Faridkot and Bathinda to Khuralgarh Sahib, where they will culminate ahead of a three-day state-level function.

The first day of the Khuralgarh Sahib programme will feature an exhibition on Guru Ravidas Ji, Katha and Kirtan Darbar, a Sant Samelan and a conference on his Bani. The second day will include Katha and Kirtan Darbar, a Bani conference, 3D projection at Minar-e-Begumpura and a drone show. The concluding day will feature Katha and Kirtan Darbar, Begampura Samagam, 3D projection and another drone show.

Bali said seminars and workshops on Guru Ravidas Ji’s life and legacy were also being organised at universities and educational institutions from July to November.

As part of the celebrations, Guru Ravidas Ji’s Bagichis are being established on 650 acres across Punjab, while 6.50 lakh saplings are being planted across the districts.

A ‘Run for Equality’ marathon will be held at all district headquarters this month, followed by cycle rallies at district headquarters in September.

Bali said the government aimed to turn the 650th Prakash Purab celebrations into a year-long people’s movement and appealed to Punjabis to participate enthusiastically in the programmes.
