Punjab Govt Moves to Resolve Revenue Kanungo Association’s Service Demands: Harpal Cheema

Chandigarh, August 20, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Thursday directed the Revenue Department to constitute a joint committee with officials from the Revenue and Finance departments, the Advocate General’s Office and representatives of the Revenue Kanungo Association to resolve the cadre and service-related demands of revenue field staff.

Cheema issued the directions while chairing a high-level meeting with representatives of the Revenue Kanungo Association and Revenue Patwar Union in the presence of Revenue Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian.

Additional Chief Secretary-cum-Financial Commissioner Revenue Anurag Verma was directed to ensure that legitimate administrative demands raised by the association were examined and addressed at the earliest.

Cheema also instructed that proposals involving financial implications be forwarded to the Finance Department without delay so that the required approvals and further action could be expedited.

During the meeting, the Revenue Kanungo Association submitted a memorandum outlining its key demands, including cadre status and pay parity, stationery allowance, filling of vacant posts and cadre restructuring.

The Finance Minister said the state government was committed to resolving genuine employee concerns through dialogue and mutual understanding. He said efforts were being made to streamline administrative functioning while protecting the service conditions and welfare of field-level revenue officials.

The meeting was attended by Revenue Kanungo Association Punjab president Harvir Singh Dhindsa, general secretary Nirmal Singh Batth, treasurer Palwinder Singh Sood, vice-president Adittya Kaushal, Sangrur district president Gurjit Singh Tung and Ludhiana district president Jasvir Singh Jassi.

Revenue Patwar Union state president Balraj Singh Aujla and other representatives of the two organisations also participated in the discussions and placed their concerns before the ministers.

The proposed joint committee is expected to provide a platform for the departments and employee representatives to examine the issues collectively and work towards an amicable resolution.
